West Chester, a suburb on the northern outskirts of Cincinnati, is embracing a reinvention of its commercial spaces with the introduction of a new family-friendly venue. The former Kroger store at 8238 Princeton Glendale Road, which has been vacant since 2019 when the supermarket chain relocated roughly a mile away, is being transformed into Fun City Adventure Park. In a post brimming with community enthusiasm, the West Chester Economic Development Council shared the news on social media, confirming the upcoming entertainment option for residents.
According to Local 12, the repurposing of the old Kroger into Fun City marks a trend towards innovative use of retail spaces that have fallen silent in the e-commerce era. Not merely a venue for kids to bounce off the walls, although there will be plenty of that with trampoline courts and foam pits, Fun City will also boast arcade games and a playground, ensuring a variety of attractions for all ages.
Katy Kanelopoulos, West Chester's director of community development, expressed the township's anticipation for this development with a note of economic optimism. "West Chester is excited to bring more fun amenities to our residents with the addition of Fun City," she stated in an email cited by Cincinnati.com. "It is a big win for our community, as it serves as a good example of the redevelopment of an existing property ‒ just another reason why West Chester is where families grow and businesses prosper."
While the grand opening is scheduled for later this year, the Fun City Manager, Jun Zhang, submitted permits to operate the indoor adventure park last December. Renovation efforts are currently underway to bring the concept to life.
