Fort Lauderdale residents looking for updates on roadway improvements have a new date to mark on their calendars. The City is holding a public meeting to discuss the latest conceptual designs for Andrews Avenue and NE/SE 3rd Avenue, moving away from previous plans that would have changed the traffic to one-way pairs. Instead, the focus has shifted to enhancing pedestrian and cyclist safety and accessibility, based on feedback from the community.
The contentious "One-Way Pairs" concept, which would have significantly altered current traffic patterns, is no longer being considered. To ensure streets that welcome not just cars, but bicyclists and walkers too, the city's project team will be presenting designs that emphasize wider sidewalks and shared paths. Concerned citizens and interested parties can join the conversation and share their thoughts on these proposed improvements, as per the city's announcement.
For those eager to contribute or learn more, the third public meeting is scheduled for August 27, from 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. The venue is ArtServe's auditorium, located at 1350 East Sunrise Blvd. This session offers a platform for residents to voice their opinions on how the roads they travel every day can be transformed for the better.
Details about the meeting and the project can be found on the City's official website. Using the City's online portal at ftlcity.info/Andrews3rdAve, attendees can review plans, ask questions ahead of time, and express their concerns or support for the current direction of the roadway improvements.
