A fire occurred on Thursday night at an assisted living home in northwest Phoenix, sending four residents to the hospital for treatment. According to FOX 10 Phoenix, the blaze erupted around 10 p.m. at a residence near 43rd Avenue and Bethany Home Road, with firefighters arriving to confront a rapidly spreading fire that is believed to have ignited in the carport before moving into the home. The cause of the fire is currently unknown, and no firefighters were reported injured as they battled the flames.

In efforts to contain the fire, Phoenix Fire Department crews deployed hose lines for search, rescue, and fire attack, while a ladder company conducted an offensive from the roof. Despite difficult conditions, they were able to gain control and extinguish the blaze. "Crews deployed hose lines into the home for search, rescue and fire attack, while a ladder company went to the roof for a coordinated attack," Capt. Rob McDade said in a statement obtained by FOX 10 Phoenix. During the incident, caregivers inside the home successfully evacuated all residents to safety. Four individuals were treated at the scene before being transported to the hospital, where they remain in stable condition, according to Capt. McDade.

The caregivers’ actions received recognition from Capt. Rob McDade, who praised their quick response during a potentially more severe incident. He stated, "Outstanding effort by the caretakers of this home. They got them all out of the house….we are very lucky that we have six people who are being evaluated, talking to us, and great work by people who are staffed at this house," as per report by ABC 15. Emergency response teams and caregivers are now working together to address the immediate aftercare needs of the residents displaced by the fire.

Investigations into the origin and cause of the fire remain ongoing, with additional details expected as the inquiry progresses.
