A Monday midday inferno inflicted major damage on a home within the Meade of Avalon subdivision in Franklin, as reported by the City of Franklin's official website. The Franklin Fire Department was prompted to respond to the 3,200-square-foot house at 11:59 AM after receiving calls from several concerned neighbors. Assisting with an automatic aid agreement, the Brentwood Fire & Rescue also came to the scene. On entry, firefighters were faced with intense flames and smoke, leading them to conduct a rapid search to ensure no one was inside the home. The returning residents later confirmed that they, along the with their pets, were unharmed.
According to Fire Marshal Andy King's observations, the fire is believed to have sparked on the back porch and rapidly spread to the attic and main house. With the situation escalating, officials called for a second alarm. Despite the fast-spreading nature of the blaze, firefighters deployed aggressive tactics to combat the fire, which King praised for their effectiveness during the challenging scenario.
While the cause of the fire is yet subject to an ongoing investigation, King highlighted that an electrical source is a possible origin, though not yet confirmed. The incident, fortunately, did not result in any injuries. King also made it a point to recognize the support received from the Franklin Police and Williamson Health EMS teams, who were present at the scene. The estimated cost of the damage is pegged at around $500,000, yet another indicator of the severity of this incident.
