Residents and motorists in Fulton County will need to adjust their travel plans this coming weekend due to a scheduled road closure on Freemanville Road. According to an announcement by the City of Milton's official website, the closure is set to facilitate water service upgrades by Fulton County Water Services crews. The affected section will be closed from where Freemanville Road intersects with Summit Road up to the Providence Road roundabout.
Starting at 7 a.m. tomorrow, detours will redirect southbound traffic along Redd Road to Hagood/Bethany Road, and then to Providence Road, while northbound traffic will use Providence Road to Bethany/Hagood Road, and then to Redd Road. The road is slated to remain closed until 7 p.m. the following day, Sunday, August 24, albeit these times are subject to change due to weather or other unforeseen variables.
The closure is part of a critical project aimed at enhancing local infrastructure, specifically to "safely add a watermain connection that should improve water pressure to homes in this area," as mentioned on the City of Milton's announcement. Residential access will be maintained throughout the duration of the work, ensuring that those residing within the closure limits can still reach their homes.
With increased traffic likely on detour routes, drivers in the vicinity are advised to allow for extra travel time over the weekend. "Drivers in this area should give themselves extra time to get wherever they need to go this weekend, including those on the detour routes," states the City of Milton's website. In the event of a delay or change in schedule, updates are expected to be provided by the same channels.
