The City of Garland has formally introduced the latest cohort of young individuals set to serve on the 2025-26 Garland Youth Council. At The Atrium on August 5, the induction ceremony took place, setting the stage for these youths to start to participate in the municipal governance system actively. Later that evening, the City Council meeting was the platform to celebrate the new members appointed by Mayor Dylan Hedrick and the City Council members.
Each council member was able to appoint up to four members, resulting in a diverse group of active and engaged teens ready to bring forth a youthful perspective to city affairs. Mayor Hedrick appointed Aletheia Yu, Ivanka Hernandez, Nancy Nguyen, and Pranav Gautam to the Youth Council—all young figures aiming to quickly become acquainted with the ins and outs of city business.
According to the information released by the City of Garland, the Council Members from Districts 1 through 8 each made their selections, creating a roster that reflects a cross-section of Garland's youth. From Amsi Orozco from District 1 to Vanessa Bello from District 8, the range of appointees signifies a clear intent to integrate a wide spectrum of voices and backgrounds in the council's composition.
