The Georgia Department of Agriculture has unveiled a resource that's ripe for the picking for those keen on supporting local agriculture: the 2025 Georgia Grown Farmers Market Map. Announced by Georgia Agriculture Commissioner Tyler J Harper in coordination with Georgia Grown, the map is a luscious guide through more than 50 markets speckled across the state, offering a bounty of fresh, locally grown produce. According to the release by the Georgia Department of Agriculture, the initiative aims to bolster Georgia's leading industry and the farm families at its heart.
Alongside the physical map, an interactive version has sprouted online, making it easier for residents to pinpoint their nearest market brimming with seasonal goods. "In celebration of Georgia Farmers Market Week, we're excited to release our 2025 Georgia Grown Farmers Market map that showcases more than 50 Georgia Grown-certified markets across the state," Harper extolled to the Georgia Department of Agriculture. Farmers markets hoping to plant roots on this map can do so by filling out the Georgia Grown Farmers Market Registration Form.
A nod to the region's rich agricultural tapestry, this effort surfaces just when Georgian soil is yielding its summer treasures, from the famed peaches to a spectrum of peppers. It's a time for communities to meld at these local hubs, exchange smiles, stories and foster an economy deeply rooted in the land they share. The map doesn't only offer a gateway to fresh fare but also weaves a narrative of tradition, sustainability, and economic vitality. The interactive map can be accessed by clicking the graphic through the Georgia Department of Agriculture website.
