A 46-year-old accountant was shot to death just after midnight while sitting in his own black Cadillac, parked in the driveway of his home on Clanton Terrace in unincorporated Decatur, and more than three weeks later, no one has been arrested. Allen Greene had just returned home from a night out with friends when he was killed on August 15, according to police. His mother, Michelle Williams, says she is still searching for the answers — and even basic news coverage — that might explain what happened to her firstborn son.
According to WSB-TV, a neighbor heard the gunshots and called 911, but told police they did not see anything. Police continue to investigate, while Williams has taken her son's story directly to reporters rather than waiting on the case to develop quietly. Police have not identified the person who shot Greene, and as of now, his killer remains free, per Tampa Bay 28.
An official police incident report cited by the station also revealed that Greene's roommate was initially detained at the scene and questioned in the back of a patrol car. Police later told the family they do not consider the roommate a suspect, according to the same report, which has helped quiet early rumors about who else was present at the house that night.
A Mother's Cross-State Search for Coverage
Williams gave birth to Greene when she was 16 years old, a bond WSB-TV notes has shaped the closeness between mother and son ever since. She spent three weeks in Georgia searching for answers, and told Tampa Bay 28 she could not find any news coverage of her son's killing back home in Florida. Determined to change that, she traveled across state lines to share his story and press for information, saying she wants anyone with knowledge of the shooting to come forward to local authorities.
Greene lived in DeKalb County but worked remotely as an accountant for the James A. Haley Veterans' Hospital in Tampa, a facility within the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs system. The department said Greene's dedication touched many lives across the community and that he will be greatly missed. A funeral service is planned for Sunday in Maitland, according to Tampa Bay 28.
DeKalb's Broader Homicide Picture
Clanton Terrace is the location of the shooting, according to KNOWAtlanta. The shooting occurred as overall homicide numbers have improved. The DeKalb County Police Department reported that homicides fell to 91 in 2025, down from 129 in 2024, while maintaining a 76.9% clearance rate, per Decaturish.

For now, Williams continues to press for justice for her son, hoping someone who knows what happened that night on Clanton Terrace will finally speak up.
