Heads up, Germantown residents: The upcoming Labor Day holiday will not only give you a break from the office but will also affect your trash collection schedule. As confirmed by the City of Germantown's official announcement, all city offices and the Germantown Community Library are taking a breather on Monday, September 1, which means doors will remain closed for the day.
In line with the observance of Labor Day, the city has put a temporary halt to sanitation services for the start of the week. "There will be no trash, recycling or yard debris collection on Monday," and what this means for residents is a shift in the usual schedule, service for everyone will be one day late across the board throughout the duration of the week, according to the announcement.
The city's message to its dwellers is simple and to the point, stating, "We wish everyone a safe and restful holiday." A sentiment surely shared by many as the summer season unofficially wraps and the promise of a long weekend looms. Everyone could use that extra day to bid farewell to the season of sun before embracing the shift that September brings.
