
The New Orleans Police Department released a report on crime statistics for August 3-9. The data shows a decrease in gun-related incidents, including fewer gun arrests and gun seizures during this period, as stated by the New Orleans Police Department.
According to the New Orleans Police Department, New Orleans Police have made 176 arrests for illegal possession of a firearm so far this year. This is a 46-percent decrease compared to 325 arrests during the same period in 2024.
As of last Monday, the New Orleans Police Department seized 1,136 firearms in 2025, down 22% from 1,464 firearms seized by the same date last year. The department did not provide details on the enforcement measures behind the decrease. The figures are preliminary and may be revised.
