A house fire early Sunday on Redding Springs Lane in northwest Houston sent five people to the hospital, including a mother and her four-year-old daughter who were rescued by firefighters. The fire started around 3 a.m., according to Click2Houston, and seven people were inside the home at the time.
A fire in a Harris County home left a mother and her daughter in critical condition after firefighters found them unresponsive on the second floor. The Northwest Volunteer Fire Department reported that burglar bars delayed rescue efforts. Brandi Dumas with the Harris County Fire Marshal’s Office said, “We want to make sure that we’re not trapping ourselves in whenever there is a fire,” as mentioned by KHOU. A two-year-old, a six-year-old, and an adult were also taken to the hospital with minor injuries, and two others in the home were not hurt. Investigators said the fire, which was quickly put out, likely started from an electrical problem on the second floor.
A house fire in Harris County trapped a family inside when security bars blocked an upstairs window. The father and his brother tried to rescue the family but were forced back by smoke, and the father injured his hand breaking the window. Firefighters cut through the bars and rescued the mother and daughter. A family member told KHOU they had planned to move because of problems with the home. The Harris County Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating the cause.
