Tragedy struck in Hesperia on August 6 when a family dispute escalated to violence, resulting in the death of a man. The San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department reported to a residence on Third Avenue around 5:21 p.m. following reports of a shooting. Upon arrival, they discovered 37-year-old Anthony Lopez-Rodriguez with a fatal gunshot wound. Efforts were made to save his life, but sadly, he was declared dead at the scene.
Initial investigations by the Sheriff's Homicide Detail revealed that the altercation leading up to the shooting involved multiple family members, including Lopez-Rodriguez. It appears tensions had reached a boiling point, prompting both him and 36-year-old Danny Vicente to arm themselves. During the confrontation, Vicente discharges his weapon, hitting Lopez-Rodriguez. A report documenting the incident has been compiled and will soon be forwarded to the District Attorney's Office for review.
