During a high-speed pursuit led by the Safe Streets Task Force of the California Highway Patrol (CHP), Oakland Area, officers arrested multiple individuals, including a minor found in possession of a ghost gun. The chase, involving a red Dodge Avenger, occurred on Monday, according to a social media post from CHP Oakland. The vehicle, refusing to stop for a routine enforcement check, was tracked southbound on I-880 before halting in an apartment complex near Fairway Drive and Catalina Street.
The pursuit saw the deployment of CHP Air-37, which enabled ground officers to safely end the chase as they managed to locate the stopped vehicle. The two female occupants ran from the car into an apartment, where they were subsequently found hiding in separate rooms after officers made entry. The juvenile male, 17, was discovered with a self-manufactured firearm and a high-capacity magazine, leading to his arrest on several firearm-related charges.
In their official statement, CHP Oakland detailed that the driver now faces charges for felony evasion, hit and run, and resisting arrest. Meanwhile, the female passenger was arrested for resisting arrest.
