In a coordinated effort that feels ripped from a crime thriller, the Murfreesboro Police Department, in conjunction with technological tools, apprehended a man wanted on charges of aggravated assault and kidnapping. According to a social media post by the Murfreesboro, TN Police Department, 24-year-old Ahmed Gouda was tracked down Wednesday afternoon to an apartment complex on Hillwood Drive.
Law enforcement officers utilized license plate reader technology to locate Gouda, demonstrating the increasing reliance on data analysis in modern police work. Upon officers' arrival, Gouda made a break for it, leading to a brief on-foot chase. The pursuit came to an end thanks to the combined efforts of drone surveillance and a police K9, who found Gouda hiding in a nearby treeline.
In addition to Gouda, a 21-year-old woman also wanted by the Mt. Juliet Police Department (MJPD) was detained at the scene. The Murfreesboro Police Department's statement did not disclose the nature of the charges against the woman, but confirmed that both suspects would be turned over to the custody of MJPD after their apprehension.
