A routine traffic stop in Horizon City led to the arrest of a driver on an outstanding juvenile warrant, authorities have announced. On August 7, the Horizon City Police Department stopped a vehicle over an equipment violation near the 14600 block of Horizon Blvd, ultimately detaining the driver, identified as Roberto Carlos Herrera Bustamante.
During the traffic stop, officers discovered through a warrants check that Herrera Bustamante had an outstanding warrant for Juvenile Failure to Appear, according to a post by the Horizon City Police Department. In Texas, consequences for a juvenile's failure to comply with a court appearance or order can be severe, potentially leading to a Class C misdemeanor, and for their parents or guardians, similar repercussions.
The Horizon City Police Department emphasized the importance of meeting court obligations, stating in their Facebook update, "The Horizon City Police Department encourages all residents to address any court obligations promptly to avoid additional legal consequences." Herrera Bustamante was booked into the El Paso County Detention Facility on the warrant, and his bond was set at $750.
