In a continued effort to apprehend some of Houston’s most dangerous fugitives, the FBI’s Houston Most Wanted list, featuring individuals accused of serious offenses ranging from aggravated assault to murder, remains a priority for law enforcement. A week following the list’s initial release, efforts have intensified as nine suspects still evade capture. Standing out among them is Rafael Antonio Hernandez, a 44-year-old man accused of the 2023 killings of his daughter, Wendy, and his boss, Josue Geovanni Argueta. KHOU reports that Hernandez allegedly acted out of jealousy after suspecting a romantic relationship between the victims.
According to Houston Police Chief Noe Diaz, the tragic events unfolded when Hernandez first shot his daughter within the confines of their apartment and, roughly an hour later, drove to Argueta's residence to commit the second murder. The victim's mother, Marbelis Rivas, told KHOU that she cried with relief upon hearing that her daughter’s case had garnered significant attention, being placed at the top of the FBI's list.
The FBI has called upon the public to report any information regarding the whereabouts of Hernandez or any fugitives listed, emphasizing the need for community involvement in law enforcement efforts. Individuals with knowledge of any suspects can reach out anonymously through the FBI's toll-free tip line, as stated by FOX 26 Houston, by dialing 1-800-CALL-FBI (1-800-225-5324).
Highlighting the success of the Most Wanted initiative, the collaborative effort between the FBI Houston and local agencies, such as the Houston Police Department and Harris County Sheriff's Office, has already proven effective with the swift apprehension of Gerrode Terrel Smith. As FBI Special Agent in Charge, Doug Williams, made clear "Each violent fugitive featured here today on this list is considered armed and dangerous and faces federal or state felony charges ranging from aggravated assault and murder to bank robbery," as reported by FOX 26 Houston.
