Driving around Iberville Parish is about to get a bit trickier. Starting September 10, LA 404 will enter a period of full closure between LA 993 and LA 3001. Bridge construction, which is slated to last until the New Year of 2026. According to the Department of Transportation and Development, the plan involves the replacement of four bridges in an effort to enhance the safety and infrastructure of the area.
For those bracing for the detour dance, Department of Transportation and Development has released a simple plan to navigate around the closures. Eastbound drivers should hang a left onto LA 993 North, follow it up with a right onto LA 1 South, another right on LA 69 South, and cap it with right back onto LA 404 West. Conversely, westbound traffic will skip LA 404, trekking north on LA 69, taking a left on LA 1 North and another left onto LA 993 South, finally hanging a left onto LA 404 and resuming their route. All the turns might remind you of a square dance, but one that’s necessary to keep traffic flowing.
The Department of Transportation and Development reminds drivers to stay alert and drive carefully in work zones. The construction, part of State Project H.013968, aims to improve Louisiana’s infrastructure for the long term. For more info, call (504) 885-4080.
