The Missouri Department of Transportation is set to narrow a section over Vetter Lane to one lane in each direction, all part of a two-year bridge rehabilitation project. This construction effort, kicked off on Sept. 8, will likely cause significant backups, especially during the rush hours and weekends—so plan your travel accordingly.
The lane reduction will stretch from Sept. 8 to Sept. 10, with a steady transition into the new traffic pattern. Associated restrictions will include a 12-foot width limit and decreased speed limits during the construction activities. Unfortunately, for locals counting on Clark Avenue and Eastland Drive ramps, these will be closed for the duration leading to more inconveniences. MoDOT, in a pre-emptive plea, is urging everyone to be more cautious and patient during these changes.
It's not just U.S. Route 50 facing interruptions—Vetter Lane will also be inaccessible beneath the overpass. E & C Bridge, LLC, the contractor leading the mission, will be managing repairs and overlays on no less than 11 bridges and demolishing one unused bridge as part of this extensive project. Current predictions slate completion for Dec. 1, 2026, but don't forget—all of this is weather-dependent.
