Kelly Clarkson has made the difficult decision to postpone the remainder of her August Las Vegas residency dates, citing her ex-husband Brandon Blackstock's ongoing health battle. The Grammy-winning singer announced the cancellations Wednesday, affecting four remaining shows at The Colosseum at Caesars Palace, including performances scheduled for this Friday and Saturday.
In a candid statement posted to social media, according to Country Living, Clarkson explained her decision to prioritize family. "Unfortunately, I need to postpone the remainder of the August Studio Session dates in Las Vegas," she wrote. "While I normally keep my personal life private, this past year, my children's father has been ill and at this moment, I need to be fully present for them."
The cancellation marks another setback for Clarkson's highly anticipated Studio Sessions residency. As reported by CNN, the singer previously postponed her July 4 and 5 opening dates to protect her vocal cords. "The prep and rehearsals have taken a toll on my voice," Clarkson had explained at the time. "I want the shows to be perfect for y'all and I need to protect myself from doing serious damage."
Family Takes Priority
Clarkson and Blackstock, who finalized their divorce in March 2022, share two children: daughter River Rose and son Remington Alexander. According to Today, River Rose was born in 2014, while Remy was born in 2016. The revelation about Blackstock's illness may also explain Clarkson's earlier absences from "The Kelly Clarkson Show," where she missed episodes from late February through March due to what sources described as a "family emergency."
The postponement affects what Fox5 Vegas reports were four remaining August dates. Her 2025 residency was originally scheduled to run from July 4 through mid-August, with additional November dates planned at the prestigious Colosseum venue.
Vegas Return Continues to Face Challenges
Despite the disruptions, when performances have proceeded as planned, Clarkson's Vegas return has been met with tremendous enthusiasm from audiences. The Studio Sessions residency at The Colosseum represents one of the year's most anticipated shows, as noted by Kelly Clarkson Vegas, highlighting the powerhouse vocalist's range and intimate stage presence.
No information has been released regarding refunds or rescheduled dates for the postponed August shows, according to Fox5 Vegas. With her August dates now canceled, Clarkson's next scheduled Studio Sessions performance is set for November. The decision underscores the singer's longstanding commitment to her children's well-being, even as it leaves thousands of fans awaiting news of rescheduled performances at one of Las Vegas's most prestigious entertainment venues.
