Trading cards aren't usually linked to violence, but in Lake Havasu City, what started as a simple argument over such collectibles escalated to a serious altercation that landed one man in the hospital with multiple stab wounds. On the evening of July 30, officers rushed to the scene on Chalon Drive following a stabbing report, Lake Havasu City Police Department confirmed.
The dispute between two men, whose passion for trading cards took a dark turn, spiraled from a war of words into a physical clash. The suspect, identified as 46-year-old Jason Jumper, allegedly plunged a knife several times into the victim before fleeing the premises. The injured was swiftly taken to Havasu Regional Medical Center, his condition serious, but thankfully, not life-threatening.
Law enforcement did not have to search far for the suspect. Information led officers to a residence on Lakeland Drive, where Jumper was believed to have returned. They established a perimeter and patiently waited for a warrant. Jumper eventually surrendered himself, stepping out from the residence and was apprehended without further incident.
Now in custody, Jason Jumper faces a slew of charges, including attempted second-degree homicide and aggravated assault. After his initial court appearance for three failure-to-appear warrants, he was detained on a $15,000 cash-only bond. Subsequently, for the felony charges, his bond was set at $100,000 cash-only, and Jumper was transferred to the Mohave County Sheriff’s Office Detention Center.
