The Las Cruces community is set to experience the finale of a sweet summer series. "Lunchbox Lemonade," a popular event series hosted by the Las Cruces Police Department's Community Outreach Team, will conclude its season this Thursday, Aug. 21. According to the City of Las Cruces, Las Crucens of all ages are invited to mix and mingle with local officers.
The final event will take place at the Plaza de Las Cruces Splash Pad, located at 100 N. Main St., from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Having teamed up with Raising Cane’s, attendees will not only get the chance to discuss their public safety concerns with team members, but also to cool off in the splash pad, their kids are provided with free lemonade, and LCPD will hand out popsicles.
Designed to foster a sense of community and open dialogue, Lunchbox Lemonade has been offering a platform for residents to connect with local law enforcement in a relaxed atmosphere. A statement on the City of Las Cruces encourages event-goers to "bring their sack lunch" and seize the opportunity for a unique dining experience.
The splash pad, beckoning families with its promise of respite from the heat, will serve as both a playground and a communal table. While Raising Cane's supplies the complementary lemonade, the police department assures that the connection between residents and officers is strengthened over a shared meal and the free popsicles given to children.
