The Las Cruces community will have to put its aquatic activities on pause at one local facility. The Activity Pool at the Las Cruces Regional Aquatic Center, located at 1401 E. Hadley Ave., is currently closed for repairs with no defined timeline for reopening. According to the City of Las Cruces, the pool is awaiting necessary parts and maintenance efforts to resolve undisclosed issues.
For those looking to dive in the meantime, the Las Cruces Natatorium, just a stone's throw away at 1405 E. Hadley Ave., has opened its doors for lap swimming and recreational swimming in the shallow end. These services will be offered from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., functioning as a temporary substitute until the Regional Aquatic Center’s Activity Pool is back in service. To accommodate swimmers, the adjustments in operation are an attempt to keep community members in the water, even if it isn't their usual splash zone.
Residents in search of more options can turn to the East Mesa Bataan Memorial Pool and Laabs Pool, which are sticking to their regular schedules. The East Mesa Bataan Memorial Pool at 6141 Reynolds Dr., and Laabs Pool at 750 W. Picacho Ave., will continue their respective Friday through Sunday routines. They offer two swimming sessions per day, from noon to 3 p.m. and from 3:30 to 6:30 p.m., opening up opportunities for aquatic recreation on the weekends.
