Las Vegas musicians, it's time to amp up because the Neon City Festival is teaming up with the Fremont Street Experience to launch a battle of the bands contest that's music to your ears—quite literally. Dubbed "Rock the Canopy," this fresh competition seeks to thrust local talent into the limelight, and it's already strumming up a buzz. According to a News 3 Las Vegas report, submissions began last Thursday, August 7 and will stay open until September 21, so get your best tracks ready.
After the submission window shuts faster than a high roller's luck on a bad day, finalists will be made known on September 26; from that lucky lot, up to six bands will make the cut to perform live on October 3. It all goes down on the final night of the Local Originals concert series where, as stated by Andrew Simon, President and CEO of Fremont Street Experience, "Las Vegas has always been a city full of fresh energy and bold talent, and Rock the Canopy will celebrate just that,"—all these enthusiastic bands will duke it out for a coveted slot at the Neon City Festival set for November as reported by 8 News Now.
The winning group will not only earn bragging rights but will also snag a spot on the Neon City Festival lineup, which is no small feat as the fest flaunts acts from across the nation and globe. "We’ve always believed Neon City should be a reflection of the community we’re part of," Jeff Victor, CEO of the Neon City Festival, told News 3 Las Vegas. Clearly, Rock the Canopy aims not just to entertain, but to bolster the burgeoning talents that call Vegas home.
