The Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries and the Louisiana Wildlife and Fisheries Foundation are offering a hands-on fishing workshop this fall for women. The workshop will cover fish identification, fishing equipment preparation, and other fishing skills, according to the Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries.

The Women's Fishing 101 Workshops are for women over 18 and teach fish handling, cleaning, storing, and preparing. Each workshop has 15 spots. The first session is on October 4, at the Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries Waddill Wildlife Refuge in Baton Rouge, with applications closing August 31. The second session is on December 6, with applications opening October 1.

Women can register for the Fishing 101 Workshops without a fishing license, but a license is required to participate. The workshops are hosted by the Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries and the Louisiana Wildlife and Fisheries Foundation and are funded by the Sport Fish Restoration Fund. The license can be purchased through links on the Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries website. More information on registration, workshop details, and other educational programs is available on the Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries and Louisiana Wildlife and Fisheries Foundation websites.
