Louisiana State Police are investigating a deputy-involved shooting in Sabine Parish after a pursuit and standoff on Branam Road. According to the Louisiana State Police, the incident began when Sabine Parish Sheriff’s Office deputies tried to serve a property ban notice to an individual who did not stop, leading to a vehicle chase.
The pursuit ended at the individual’s home. Deputies said the person went inside after leaving their vehicle armed. Authorities reported that the individual later came outside with a firearm and two knives and did not follow commands to disarm. A deputy fired, and the person was taken to a local hospital, where they were pronounced dead, as reported by the Louisiana State Police.
A man died after being shot despite receiving immediate medical aid from local authorities and EMS before being transported for treatment. The Louisiana State Police, in coordination with the Sabine Parish District Attorney’s Office, is leading the investigation and urging community members with information, photos, or videos to come forward, including through anonymous tips via the Louisiana State Police online reporting system or the Louisiana State Police Fusion Center Hotline.
