A fatal three-vehicle accident on State Route 73 in Clinton County, Ohio, resulted in the death of a Maineville woman, Lisa Bush, 56, yesterday morning, and left a 19-year-old man with serious injuries. LOCAL12 reports that the collision occurred around 11 a.m. when the young driver of a 1998 Dodge Ram, identified by the Ohio State Highway Patrol as Anton Laskowski III of Indiana, lost control of his vehicle while failing to negotiate a curve, subsequently crossing the center line to collide head-on with Bush's 2023 Buick Enclave.
While Bush was declared dead at the scene, Laskowski was airlifted to Miami Valley Hospital. As indicated in both WNews Journal and WLWT's coverage, he sustained serious injuries, and his truck was said to be traveling westbound on SR 73 near Mile Post 6 in Union Township before the tragic event. A third vehicle, a 2021 Ford F-250 driven by 76-year-old Florida resident David Roeper, encountered debris from the crash, which rendered his vehicle inoperable, however, Roeper himself was not injured in the aftermath.
The incident has prompted an ongoing investigation by the Ohio State Highway Patrol, with assistance coming from multiple agencies, including the Clinton County Sheriff's Office, Wilmington Fire and EMS, the Ohio Department of Transportation, and the Clinton County Coroner's Office, this collaboration reflects the severity and the multi-faceted nature of the accident's impact on the local community and the roadways.
Authorities have yet to conclude the cause of the accident as it "remains under investigation by the Wilmington Post," according to the Ohio State Highway Patrol, in a statement obtained by WNews Journal, the crash resulted in State Route 73 becoming a tableau of emergency response, where life was attended to, diverted, and as in the sad case of Lisa Bush, a life was concluded, the efforts of first responders underscore the precarious balance wherein everyday commutes hinge on the assumption that all travelers will navigate their paths with care and control – a balance disrupted in Clinton County this weekend.
