Law enforcement agencies have launched a manhunt in Coconut Grove after a stolen vehicle was abandoned, Coral Gables Police Department confirmed today. According to Local 10 News, authorities are seeking at least two suspects who fled on foot near Shipping Avenue and New York Street. The Coral Gables police have established a perimeter, and two Black male suspects are reportedly still at large.

The chaotic scene prompted precautionary lockdowns at GW Carver Middle School and Coconut Grove Elementary, which have since been lifted, as reported by NBC Miami. Roads were temporarily closed, and Sky 10 aerial footage showed police activity throughout the area as the investigation progressed. Meanwhile, Miami-Dade County Public Schools indicated that a lockdown at Mater Grove Academy was also lifted following assurances to parents that everything was fine on campus, despite the "ongoing chase in the Coconut Grove area."

NBC Miami reported that one person has been taken into custody and a K-9 unit was "actively searching" for a second individual. The initial car theft occurred in Coral Gables, but it was not immediately clear where the theft took place. Moreover, authorities did not provide an immediate description of the subject they are searching for.

A police helicopter could be seen circling above the area, as confirmed by NBC Miami. In addition to the Coral Gables Police, the Miami Police Department has also been involved in the operation, issuing a traffic alert via X, cautioning residents to avoid the affected area due to temporary road closures.
