Mankato residents should prepare for a detour on their morning commute this Monday. The City of Mankato has announced a road closure on North Belmont Drive for paving work as part of the ongoing reconstruction project. The closure is set to take place on August 11, from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., blocking through traffic between East Main Street and Fair Street. City of Mankato, Minnesota Government stressed the importance of this project for the area's infrastructure.
According to the social media post from the City, local traffic will be permitted access to properties within the closure area. However, delays should be expected, and commuters are encouraged to find alternate routes. The post assured that detour signs will be posted for guidance. "To allow crews to complete the work safely and efficiently the road will be closed to through traffic," read the statement.
The North Belmont Drive project is part of a broader initiative by the city to enhance road safety and improve driving conditions. For those looking to plan ahead, the city's website offers updates and maps that detail the roadwork and detours. The paving operation is a one-day event, assuming weather conditions do not cause any unexpected delays.
While the inconvenience is temporary, city officials are asking drivers to be patient and prepare for a change in their routine. Residents and local businesses may need to adjust accordingly as the roadwork proceeds. "Local traffic will still have access to properties within the closure area, but delays should be expected," the city's post mentioned. This minor disruption is a step toward a smoother ride down North Belmont Drive in future days.
