A DoorDash delivery encounter turned into an alleged motor vehicle theft earlier this month. In the early hours of Sunday, August 10, at approximately 12:30 a.m., a female driver was reportedly captured on camera in a bold 'Barbie' shirt and multicolored hair cover, engaging in an act that has prompted a police investigation, according to the Memphis Police Department.

The incident occurred in the 300 block of Illinois Avenue, where the driver allegedly removed keys from an exterior door lock of the parked vehicle under an awning. She then appeared to make her delivery inside the nearby business. Surveillance footage suggests that after completing her delivery duties—and upon returning to her vehicle—the individual tested the key fob, which activated the lights of the stolen vehicle. Soon after, she is said to have handed the keys over to an accomplice, who allegedly utilized them to carry out the theft of the victim's white four-door sedan.

Memphis authorities are asking anyone with information about the incident to come forward. Tips can be submitted to Crime Stoppers at 528-CASH. Police have not revealed any suspects or the investigation’s status. The case, involving a stolen vehicle and property during what should have been a routine food delivery, is still unresolved.
