According to the Memphis Police Department's official release, at approximately 11:39 p.m., the victim, who was assisting another motorist on the northbound side of Lamar Avenue, was hit by a vehicle that subsequently fled the scene.
The victim was quickly transported to Regional One Health but ultimately succumbed to the injuries. The hit-and-run driver, who headed northbound on Lamar through the intersection at American Way, remains unidentified. Memphis Police have indicated that the vehicle involved is likely a silver or gray Nissan Armada with expected front passenger side damage and missing the passenger-side mirror.
