
Last Sunday morning, a motor vehicle theft was reported in the 2900 block of Georgetown Drive, with officers being called to the scene at approximately 1:30 a.m. to address the situation involving a 2015 Kia Optima. The Memphis Police Department later located the stolen vehicle at 2756 Getwell Road, found unoccupied, and its attempted flight thwarted by mechanical failure, according to the Memphis Police Department's news release.
Surveillance footage from the scene where the car was abandoned reveals two suspects associated with the incident, the vehicle reaching its unintended terminus due to issues with starting, this discovery shortly following the initial theft report. Suspect #1 is described as a male, tall with a thin build, donning a black ski mask accompanied by black Nike hoodie and pants, and black shoes, suspect #2 mirrors the height and build, though contrasted by white shoes under the similar dark attire of a black ski mask and hoodie.
