An attempted theft on David Street led to a violent incident early Monday morning. The Memphis Police Department report states that around 1:27 a.m. on Monday in the 1500 block of David Street, a suspect was confronted after trying to leave a business without paying. During the confrontation, the suspect lifted his shirt to reveal a black handgun in his waistband. The victim backed away and did not try to stop the suspect further.
