Memphis Police are investigating a fatal shooting that took place late last month at a local mini-mart. On March 29, 2025, at approximately 11:22 a.m., officers responded to a report of gun violence at the commercial establishment located at 692 Whitney Avenue. According to the Memphis Police Department's official news release, upon arrival at the scene, officers found a male victim who had sustained several gunshot wounds. The victim was pronounced dead at the scene.
During the incident's investigation, authorities were able to secure video footage from both the interior and exterior of the Mini Mart. It shows a dark gray Honda Accord pulling into the store's parking lot and backing into a space near the front entrance. Footage reveals two individuals, armed with rifles, exiting a Honda Accord and opening fire at the victim as he left the Mini Mart. The first shooter, donned in all black with a face mask and gloves, emerged from the driver’s door, while the second, wearing a black hooded sweatshirt, gray pants, and white and black shoes, exited from the front passenger door. Following the shooting, the front passenger purportedly approached the victim, took an unknown object from him, and rejoined their associate in the car before fleeing the scene heading eastbound on Whitney Avenue.
The Memphis Police later recovered the getaway vehicle, a 2020 gray Honda Accord with damage to the front passenger fender and door, abandoned in the vicinity of Northcliffe and Epping Way. The car, which had been reported stolen five days before the shooting, on March 24, provided a key piece of physical evidence in the ongoing investigation. No arrests have been made at this time, and the suspects remain at large.
The Memphis Police urge anyone with information relevant to the case to come forward. They are calling for tips, which can be submitted anonymously, to assist in bringing those responsible to justice. Tipsters are encouraged to call Crime Stoppers at 901-528-CASH.
