The Annual Harp Society Concert will take place this Sunday at 2:30 p.m. at the East Bank Regional Library in Metairie. Local musician Jesse Autumn will perform using a rare double-strung harp. The event is free and open to the public, with no registration needed, according to the Jefferson Parish officials.
Before the concert, harp fans can join workshops to learn more or improve their skills. Jesse Autumn will lead a lever harp session from 12 to 12:45 p.m., followed by sessions from Patrice Fisher and Cathy Anderson from 12:45 to 1:30 p.m. Each artist brings a unique style—Jesse is known for her multi-instrumental, folk-inspired music; Patrice adds a Latin jazz touch; and Cathy focuses on therapeutic harp performances, as per the Jefferson Parish.
The concert and workshops are funded by grants from the Arts Council of New Orleans, the New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Foundation, and the Louisiana Division of the Arts, along with support from the National Endowment for the Arts. Organized by the New Orleans and North Shore Chapters of the American Harp Society, these events highlight the city’s dedication to supporting music and the arts, as shared by the Jefferson Parish government.
