Miami residents are gearing up for another wave of high temperatures as a heat advisory goes into effect today. According to NBC Miami, "feels-like numbers are forecast to rise to 108 degrees in spots." The increase in heat will largely depend on the timing of expected rain, with current projections indicating a calm morning followed by potential afternoon thunderstorms.
Rainfall is also on the rise, as wetter conditions are anticipated toward the weekend and proceeding into the early part of next week. The National Weather Service reports a "30 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms" today with mostly sunny skies and a high near 91 degrees. The forecast indicates a calm wind in the morning, set to slowly become an east breeze at 5 to 7 mph in the afternoon.
Evenings will bring their own weather challenges, with the National Weather Service noting a "50 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms, mainly after 4am." Residents can expect a mostly cloudy transition into a clearer night with low temperatures hovering around 79 degrees and an east wind of 3 to 6 mph. The possibility of rainfall amounts of less than a tenth of an inch, except in thunderstorms, means sporadic downpours may occur.
Looking ahead, similar patterns are predicted to persist with "mostly sunny early, followed by scattered afternoon storms," as stated by NBC Miami. High temperatures are slated to remain in the low 90s throughout the week. The National Weather Service asserts a consistent chance of thunderstorms nearly daily, with heat index values climbing as high as 105. Precautions should be taken seriously to mitigate the risks associated with these high heat index values, including staying hydrated and avoiding prolonged outdoor activities during peak heat hours.
As the week progresses, residents should prepare for potential weather disruptions and heed advisories issued by weather officials.
