In a significant nod to local collaborative efforts, Miami-Dade County’s Department of Community Action and Human Services (CAHSD), together with Miami EdTech, have been nominated for "Collaboration of the Year" at the 2025 Golden Palms Awards. The accolade recognizes the duo for Workforce.Miami, a key initiative aimed at connecting community members with educational and professional avenues in the burgeoning tech sector.

The Office of Innovation and Economic Development, which initially saw the birth of Workforce.Miami, placed its trust in CAHSD to ensure more people across the county could easily access this vital resource. The collaboration endeavors to provide a "No Wrong Door" approach, simplifying the journey towards employment and skills training in a landscape that is becoming increasingly complex and digital-centric. Miami-Dade County Mayor Daniella Levine Cava told the public, "Workforce.Miami is the realization of that vision — bringing together government, nonprofit, and industry partners to ensure that every resident has the chance to participate in and benefit from our growing innovation economy," as noted by the county's official website.

As Miami EdTech's President Carlos Vazquez emphasized, the partnership is all about equipping the community with vital digital skills. He said, "Workforce.Miami is the embodiment of that mission, and this recognition underscores the importance of building strong partnerships to uplift our community." Competing for the top spot in the Collaboration of the Year category, other nominees include partnerships ranging from tech ventures like AI Salon Miami with ManaTech, to corporate collaborations such as City Furniture with React Miami, as per the county's press release.

In contrast to the glamorous awards scene, Workforce.Miami continues to keep its boots on the ground, centrally coordinating resources to create a streamlined pathway, from education to job placement. William Porro, Assistant Director of Community Action and Human Services, highlighted the future-oriented nature of the collaboration, asserting, "Workforce.Miami represents the future of workforce development — accessible, equitable, and aligned with the needs of both job seekers and employers." The winners of the Golden Palms Awards were announced yesterday at Funky Buddha Brewery, according to the same press release.

As for the South Florida Tech Hub, it's a nonprofit driven to weave the fabric of the local tech ecosystem more tightly, a goal that mirrors the spirit of the Golden Palms Awards itself.
