Earlier today cascade of unfortunate events unfolded in southwest Miami-Dade when a black Nissan, driven by 22-year-old Edgar Guevara, collided with an off-duty deputy's truck and subsequently careened into another civilian car while attempting to escape the scene; this series of events led to Guevara's arrest. According to a report by WSVN, the incident transpired around 2:22 a.m. near Southwest 160th Avenue and 184th Street, the fallout of which included the deployment of airbags and the discovery of an apparent gun magazine inside Guevara's vehicle.
After the impact with the off-duty deputies' unmarked truck, Guevara, in what seems a desperate bid for freedom, lost control and made contact with another motorist's vehicle, bringing his attempted flight to an abrupt halt, video footage obtained by 7News showed the interior of the Nissan stark with the aftermath punctuated by airbags and the lonely visage of a gun magazine on the floor.
Guevara was promptly detained and placed into a responding deputies' cruiser, video from the scene provided a clear view of his detention and revealed a narrative of an attempted escape, gone awry; per standard procedures following such incidents, he is currently undergoing a check-up at a hospital and will be booked into jail pending medical clearance, no injuries apart from those possibly sustained by Guevara were reported in the ordeal.
The Miami-Dade Sheriff's Office confirmed the arrest of the suspect after the hit-and-run involving their deputy's vehicle; this was corroborated by details in a separate account from Local 10, which although did not release the suspect's identity immediately provided confirmation of the arrest.
