The officials state, and rather emphatically so, "If you don’t need to transport a firearm — don’t." The parameters set forth include that firearms must be unloaded and encased in specially designed firearm containers that are securely fastened with no part of the firearm exposed. Additionally, for those without a permit, the law requires that the firearm should be placed in the locked trunk of the vehicle. For those with a valid permit, legally carrying a handgun is permitted as stated in the social media update which appeared on the department's Facebook page.
