John Quirk, the 84-year-old Knox County man who was reported missing, has been located safely in Texas, as confirmed by the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation. A Silver Alert was initiated on Tuesday after Quirk's absence raised concerns, particularly due to his medical condition, which may impair his ability to return safely without assistance.
The initial alert, as reported by WBIR, described Quirk as a 6-foot-tall man with gray hair and blue eyes, weighing around 160 lbs, and potentially traveling in a silver 1997 Toyota RAV4 bearing Nevada tag 459TXL. Authorities had feared that Quirk might be heading through Alabama before his car was spotted further southwest.
Upon discovery, the TBI issued an update on Wednesday afternoon informing of Quirk's safety. "TBI said on Tuesday that it issued a Silver Alert for John Quirk on behalf of the Knox County Sheriff’s Office," per information obtained by WATE. Later, upon his car being identified in Texas, the bureau confirmed that Quirk was indeed safe.
