
The California Highway Patrol Contra Costa Area provided details of a fatal accident that unfolded on the Benicia Bridge. According to the CHP Contra Costa's social media post, a tragic collision between a motorcycle and a semi-truck occurred yesterday, resulting in the death of the motorcyclist.
The incident took place on the southbound lanes of Interstate 680, around 7:58 a.m., when the male motorcyclist, navigating the #1 lane at slow speeds, lost control and fell into the path of the semi-truck. The grim scene saw the rider struck by the heavy vehicle's rear wheels, who he was immediately pronounced deceased by the authorities who arrived at the scene.
Following the accident, CHP closed the three left lanes of I-680 for the better part of the morning to conduct their investigation, which led to traffic disruptions. The lanes were reopened at 10:33 a.m. The CHP Contra Costa Area has called upon any witnesses of the accident or those with information leading up to it to come forward to assist with the ongoing investigation.
