
A New Orleans man was killed in a crash on Interstate 10 late Wednesday night in Ascension Parish. The Louisiana State Police reported that Clyde Butler, 77, died at the scene after his pickup truck left the road and overturned. The single-vehicle crash happened around 11 p.m. at milepost 173 eastbound.
Butler’s Ford F-150 went off the left side of the roadway and struck a guardrail. The cause remains under investigation. A toxicology sample will be taken as part of the standard procedure, though impairment has not been identified at this time.
The Louisiana State Police confirmed Butler was not wearing a seatbelt. Authorities continue to stress the importance of seatbelt use and safe driving practices. The investigation into the crash is ongoing.
