The New Orleans Police Department has made an arrest in connection with a second degree murder that transpired earlier this month. The suspect, identified as Damon Garcia, a Black male born on August 22, 1995, was apprehended yesterday, the department reported.
Information released by the NOPD, and confirmed in a recent press release, states that the fatal incident took place last Sunday, within the 2600 block of Jackson Avenue. Garcia, having been named the suspect by homicide detectives following the investigation, was taken into custody in Algiers, at a location undisclosed to the public, before being transported to Central Lockup from which the arrest was processed.
Details about the circumstances of the homicide remain limited, but investigators determined there was sufficient evidence to obtain an arrest warrant for Garcia. He is currently in custody and awaiting further legal proceedings. As the case progresses, more information is expected to become available.
