New Orleans Police have put out a call to the public seeking help in the apprehension of a man wanted in connection to a recent auto burglary. The individual identified by authorities is Andrew Walter Smith, a Black male whose date of birth is listed as March 21, 1988. The NoLa PD provided a photo of the suspect to aid in his recognition.
The incident in question unfolded late at night, around 11:14 p.m. on August 4, according to the official report. Smith is alleged to have broken into a vehicle that was parked in a garage situated at the crossroads of Poydras and South Peters Streets. During the burglary, he is accused of having made off with an undisclosed amount of cash. This detail, along with the suspect description, was made public in an NOPD News release dated yesterday, August 7.
The NOPD has asked anyone with information about Andrew Walter Smith's whereabouts or any details pertaining to the auto burglary to come forward. Tips can be submitted anonymously.
