Ozark drivers, prepare for nighttime detours on U.S. Route 65. Beginning next Monday, and continuing through Thursday, August 14, from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m., traffic will be rerouted due to the removal of the westbound Route 14 outside bridge wall. MoDOT has announced that this work will necessitate the complete closure of U.S. Route 65 in both directions at the Missouri Route 14 (Jackson Street) bridge.
Motorists traveling along Route 65 will be directed to utilize the adjacent on-off ramps at Route 14 before rejoining the highway. The westbound Route 14 bridge's right lane over U.S. Route 65 will also be closed, although the left lane and turn lane will remain open to traffic. Meanwhile, closures will also affect the eastbound lanes of the Missouri Route 14 bridge during the project's nighttime hours. No signed detours are in the plans, but those accustomed to traveling through this stretch should consider alternate routes to avoid potential delays.
MoDOT's Traveler Information Map provides updates on road closures and traffic impacts for drivers in real-time. Those navigating the area during the scheduled construction times are warned that crews and equipment might be situated close to the flow of traffic, underscoring the need for heightened caution.
To facilitate these traffic shifts, electronic message boards will be placed strategically to inform drivers of the upcoming changes. MoDOT recommends checking the Traveler Information Map regularly as schedules and closures could shift due to unforeseen circumstances such as weather or other variables.
