Bethune Park is set for a grand reveal on August 21, as local officials and residents come together to celebrate the park's major renovations. The ribbon-cutting ceremony, scheduled for 9:30 a.m., invites community members to gather at the basketball pavilion at 301 Bethune Street, Norco. According to a release from St. Charles Parish Government, the park's improvements include a new covered basketball court, an upgraded playground, added batting cages, baseball fields, and signs paying homage to Bethune High School.
The park's refurbishment, hailed as a tribute to both the past and the future, underscores a successful partnership between Parish Government and Shell Norco. Shell's contribution, a cool $500,000, was instrumental to the project, underscoring the company's investment in the local community. "We’re excited to unveil the park’s latest upgrades," stated the St. Charles Parish announcement, highlighting the collective anticipation for the renewed community space.
Local families are expected to benefit immensely from this rejuvenation of Bethune Park, with the emphasis on sports and outdoor activities dovetailing with broader initiatives to promote community health and togetherness. The park is more than just a space for recreation; it is a nexus where the bonds of community are strengthened, and where the young and old alike can find common ground in play and leisure.
