Tulsa commuters, brace yourselves for slowdowns and detours as the Oklahoma Department of Transportation (ODOT) embarks on a series of roadwork projects affecting key travel routes across the city this week, according to a traffic advisory released by ODOT. For those traversing the westbound SH-51/Broken Arrow Expressway, take note that the off-ramp to Detroit Ave. on the southeast corner of the Inner Dispersal Loop (IDL) will be out of commission from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. both today and tomorrow, with surface repairs cited as the cause for the closure.
Meanwhile, travelers on eastbound US-412 in Sand Springs should anticipate a reduction in lane availability; the left lane at Adams Rd. is set to be closed from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. today to facilitate guardrail repairs, which may lead to traffic snarls and urged motorists should plan accordingly, adjust their schedules if they can or seek alternate routes might help alleviate the on-the-road stress, the ODOT advisory noted.
Furthermore, the northeast corner of the IDL is undergoing an ongoing project, prompting lane closures that are expected to last through Friday, Aug. 8. Specifically, Northbound US-75 will be narrowed to a single lane at I-244, and the westbound I-244 off-ramp to 1st St. is also slimming down to just one lane between the hours of 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. daily, ODOT’s announcement outlined.
Long-term construction work is already underway at a crucial junction where eastbound I-244 is narrowed to one lane at the US-75 merge, a setup that's projected to extend through the entirety of the summer of 2025 for bridge rehabilitation efforts, and adding to the traffic constraints SH-66 in Catoosa will intermittently be narrowed to one lane in either direction between Pine St. and the Blue Whale until early August due to resurfacing works, which will likely result in more prolonged delays for drivers, as per ODOT’s recent notices published.
