Oklahoma City police are reaching out to the public in the search for a suspect who hit a teenage girl with a truck, leaving her in critical condition. The hit-and-run incident unfolded on August 8, after a fight erupted at a large party near Reno and Villa Avenues in Oklahoma City. According to a KFOR report, the suspect attempted to flee the crowded scene in the chaos, striking the teenage girl in the process.
In a statement to KFOR, Msgt. Gary Knight from the Oklahoma City Police Department said, "I don’t know how they didn’t know they hit somebody." Despite the poor quality of the images released to the public, Knight encouraged people to take "a really close look at the photos attached to this story" in hopes that someone might recognize the vehicle involved.
The suspected vehicle, as described by Oklahoma City police, is a 2015 to 2017 Dodge Ram 1500, distinctive for its purple fog headlights and colored taillights. As provided in a KOCO article, the vehicle likely suffered damage to the driver's side bed due to the collision. This detail, combined with the unique lights, could be crucial in tracking down the truck and its driver.
The search is ongoing while the teenage girl remains in critical condition, with expectations for her recovery. Msgt. Knight, speaking to KFOR, stated, "At this point, she’s expected to recover and to be okay." Authorities have requested the community’s assistance in identifying the hit-and-run driver to support the investigation.
