A tragic event unfolded on Highway 385 early Sunday morning, when one person lost their life and four others suffered injuries in a sequence of collisions involving a total of five vehicles, according to Action News 5. The Memphis Police Department responded to the chaos westbound, just past Riverdale Road.
The incident occurred at around 1:05 am, and police have described the scene as encompassing three separate crashes. Initially, two cars collided and became disabled; following this, a subsequent vehicle crashed into one of the disabled cars. In a statement obtained by Local Memphis, it was noted that all lanes of traffic near the site were shut down as authorities worked the scene, which remained closed for several hours.
In a more grim turn of events, two additional cars, attempting to evade the initial crashes, struck each other. It was during this sequence that a pedestrian, who had exited their vehicle from the first accident, was hit and pronounced dead at the scene.
