Early this morning commuters on I-95 North in Boca Raton encountered significant delays due to an overturned tractor-trailer at Exit 48B, Yamato Road. According to CBS12, the incident was first reported at 5:40 a.m. and resulted in the closure of all lanes, with the Florida Highway Patrol confirming that the crash involved injuries.
The initial closure caused severe traffic disruptions, and by 6:30 a.m., traffic was at a near standstill, with Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) later diverting all traffic off of I-95 at Yamato Road. Despite the chaos, BocaNewsNow.com reports there were miraculously no injuries, although the truck was leaking fuel. Witnesses claimed that the truck blew a tire before flipping, yet, no other vehicles were involved in the accident.
Emergency crews, including Boca Raton Fire Rescue, responded to the scene to manage the hazards and assist with traffic control. The quick response and absence of further accidents helped mitigate the situation to some extent, allowing for the express lanes to remain somewhat operational while main lanes were obstructed.
By 8:29 a.m., FDOT confirmed that all lanes had reopened, signaling a return to normalcy for the interstate's daily operations.
