The El Paso County Sheriff's Office has reported the arrest of a parolee accused of assault in East El Paso County. According to the official social media post from El Paso County Sheriff Oscar Ugarte, the incident unfolded on Sunday evening, when deputies responded to an emergency call in the 100 block of Nonap. The post detailed that on their arrival, deputies encountered the victim of a physical assault.
The alleged assailant, identified as 20-year-old Carlos Salinas III, is not unfamiliar with the judicial system, having been on parole for a previous murder conviction. A swift inquiry into the assault led deputies a stone's throw away to the 12700 block of Pellicano Drive, where an unresisting Salinas was subsequently apprehended.
Salinas now faces a charge of Assault Causing Bodily Injury and was booked into the El Paso County Downtown Detention Facility. His interference with the tranquility of another person's physical state has placed him behind bars, with a bond set firmly at $20,000. However, the freedom to walk with a cash guarantee eludes him due to an existing parole violation, keeping Salinas under the firm grasp of a detainment order.
